It seems that the more constraining a society the more heroes and heroines emerge. Several of my friends were able to attend the release of the Wilma Mankiller quarter. This quarter honoring the Cherokee chieftain is the third quarter honoring and Oklahoma woman. Sally Ride, the astronaut, and Joy Harjo, National Poet Laureate, have also been honored.
