More and more, I find time spent outdoors, appreciating nature, and time spent with non-human animals, to be more gratifying than time spent with most people. Maybe I'm weird, but I'm totally OK with that.

You are not weird but becoming more wise. Your animals give you love without question and respect that you had to earn. It speaks highly of you to have gained this awareness.

I understand your feelings perfectly. I work in dog rescue and decided long ago that the world needs less people and more dogs. After some of the horrors I've seen that people do to animals the more I believe I'm right. Nature and animals are a wonderful thing to retreat to when humans become difficult to be around.

I have a job that I love that requires a high degree of interaction with people. As an introvert, I just really need "down time" after that! The outdoors and my dog help with that.

Given your photo, it makes perfect sense. The fact that you can type is the amazing thing. ?

Border collies are very smart!

@ScienceRocks My/ our Border Collie was like our first child.. Taught me a lot about parenting! It always appeared as though she was just waiting to ‘turn into one of us.’ Miss that dog ~

@ScienceRocks ?

My father used to say " the more I know about people , the more I like my dogs ". Enough said !

I’d say a balance is nice. I like my part-time job.. Just enough ‘people time,’ until retreating into nature time. Creepy thing is, over east, from the western US, I’m dodging ticks (why their god made such a parasite is beyond me). So, I’m reluctant to go diving into the deep woods like I once had.. I lived in the PNW woods.

I’ve two neighbor dogs who think I’m theirs (our local dogs can roam).. I brush them, keep out fresh water ..with the occasional treat. Get to talk to them, too 🙂 But I must admit, there continue to be interactions with people that make me feel ‘that’s where it’s at’ ... that our greatest connection and worth comes from interactions with our own … whether I agree or not 😉
