I've always liked Ricky Gervais.

Ah but you see, GAWD commanded them to share their "good news" that Gawd has saved us all ....from what He will do to us if we don't let him save us.

Perfectly logical when you think about it.

I didn't mind him... until he decided to identify as 'Bobo the chimp' in order to mock trans people's rights to self-identification. Taking a pop at Caitlyn Jenner? Fair enough. She's made herself a public figure and it goes with the territory. That cheap shot at everyone else? Nuts to him.

I never gelled with The Office anyway. I used to quite enjoy Extras, though more for the self-deprecating roles that it put some of the guest stars in. Gervais' character was always somewhat cringeworthy. Skirting on the edges of homophobia but not quite committing to it, at one point. I'm sure it was meant to be portrayed as a negative character trait, but it always makes me uncomfortable when the protagonist in something expresses bigoted views.

Their hypocrisy is predictable and consistent.
