There are several reasons I live in Utah. Religion is not among them.

The religious zealots tarnish the reputation that we otherwise have on a world-wide scale with the likes of some of our great national parks and Olympic quality winter activities.

It's not for everyone, for sure. I also wouldn't mind living by the sea. Or on a mountain covered with coniferous trees... or... or... or...
But, I sure do love it here.
@lizzybathory Well, having been raised Mormon, I kind of mostly avoid Utah when I can.
I prefer the Pacific northwest, west of the Cascades where everything is so green and alive. I lived most of my life in Los Angeles, so I got my fill of deserts.
I read your posts with great delight. Wonderful to experience the words and thoughts of one who, not only can think, but does.

Ok you got me. Just exactly why do you live in Utah. If your musically inclined, the mormon tabernacle choir is pretty impressive. that could be one reason. Closet polygamist?

Hardly a closet polygamist! My girlfriend and her boyfriend live with my fiancee and I.
The truth is, I got my masters degree in Education. I discovered that Utah paid 25% more than I could get in Idaho. I moved.
I have a great deal of friends here and I have made more. I am in love with the scenery, I make enough as a teacher to live on, and it's near-ish to my parents in Southern Idaho.
I've thought of living in beautiful Utah.... but the religious conservative atmosphere would be hard to live with. I'll vacation there.

Actually, if you live in Idaho, as your name implies, the atmosphere is really no different. It's been an adjustment not to be able to buy my wine at the grocery store, but I don't experience any religious pressure.
