Whelp, this crap is official.
Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade
[apple.news]
13 states have “trigger” laws in place making abortion illegal that specifically say that they will take effect shortly after the court overturns its precedents. More states are expected to restrict the procedure.
State lawmakers in red states were already working to pass and enact laws restricting abortion access — even with Roe still in place — in preparation for abortion access protections to disappear.
Oklahoma recently passed what is considered the most restrictive abortion law in the country, which bans abortion starting at fertilization.
Glad I live in a protected state, as do my family members. I feel sad and angry for those women in unprotected states, and hope the best for them, and hope that this (and other upcoming rulings) will be the impetus for a change in political leaders for them, which will help us all, in the bigger picture.
The 83rd try is a charm. Eh? You know who's delighted? Liz Chaney. Seriously. Some Dems what to elect her President because she stopped short of treason.
DAMN THEM! Womens' lives don't matter. Zygotes' lives take precedence. Gotta' go....working with Pasadena Planned Parenthood to help organize a demonstration today. Women will be FURIOUS.
I agree that many women will be furious and will become single issue voters over this, voting for the Dems, but I think that will be too little, too late, as the Repubs have already figured out how to suppress the votes of colored people enough that the Repubs can still win federal elections even with the added female votes against them. That is why I think the SC waited until now to overturn Roe. They wanted to wait until the backlash would no longer matter in federal elections. Fascism, here we come!
The Repubs may be evil, but they are very cunning and good at calculating how to time things and strategize to get what they want, no matter what the majority public opinion may be...
You’re furious. That’s good.
@yvilletom I'd hope that YOU are furious, too!
@LucyLoohoo The too conservative DCCC asks me for money to elect Democrats.
I tell them I donate to Dems through Emily’s List and through church-state separation organizationsp
