Independence Day is a lie at best. The American working class during the 18th century didn’t care for King Georges trade and taxation policies, but at least that monster was known to them and across the Atlantic. The white aristocracy that had risen in America proportionally with the economic growth of the colonies, had the potential of being an equally oppressive monster. Fact is, early on most colonists weren't in favor of war, and saw that they would merely be trading an oppressive white aristocracy from across the pond for one that was in their back yard. If not for clever propaganda by said homegrown white aristocracy, the people would have never fought against George. The American revolutionists fought a war for the white aristocracy here, and have been slaves to their capitalist system ever since. If you doubt this, just take a look at americas congress now….
