Religious Enlightenment: Definition: The belief that god, or the great spiritual world, has a special wisdom and knowledge, which can make your life much better, happier and more fulfilling. But that, they choose to share it, only with a very few specially selected, self absorbed narcissists.

Yes it seems that many of the people I know, who are wrapped up in some woo-woo thought really think that the universe speaks to people who are especially "in tune" with the universe.

So they dress in light flowy garments that they imagine will please this "universe" in order to be receptive to this voice that supposedly speaks to them, because they are special.

Whether they really feel they hear the message - or just pretend to be the receiver of these messages to match the "spiritual-ness" of their friends is unclear to me. Seems there is a bit of competition among these woo-woo folks to see who can show they are most "in tune" with the universe.

They rely so much on this outside voice to direct them on their path that they imagine they hear instructions. And will not be swayed that they are just folllowing their heart, their passion, or doing what they are most comfortable or would find exciting. They want to blame or credit the universe for lighting their path for some unknown purpose.

I say cut the nonsense and just think in practical and/or emotional terms and decide your own path or change in direction. They think I'll never be happy because I don't believe. Um... I'm quite happy just with what I've got. Not needing anything else.

My stomach turns when friends credit the "universe" for everything, a transference from their previous god belief, even if it's simply finding a good parking space. I remember driving a friend into a crowded parking lot before an event and she did us a "great favor" by "manifesting" a parking space, and honestly thought had she not done so, I wouldn't have found such a great parking spot. She really thought she has some special power. It's pretty much the same space I find every time I enter that parking lot. Not quite sure how I ever find an empty parking space when she's not in the car, haha!

Well yeah , some may be delusional of how much outside forces we don't understand fully ar all of what it appears to do ..

I knew a car accident was going to happen before it happened by about 2 minutes. I was ignored.. anyways..also had almost drove off a cliff that was hidden while riding my dirt bike in a open grass field .. felt something tell me to turn around.why it happens to me and others and not you so much and others like you .. I have no idea why .. you haven't had this happen yet ..maybe you have and you may not recall it

@laidback1 Yes, I've had premonitions something was about to happen, due to common sense and things I've noticed, perhaps a bit subconsiously, but I think they were all natural consequences to things happening around me.

A few weeks ago I had a feeling a tree might come down on my car as I was driving through a storm, so I became extra aware and slowed down, and I ended up driving right under the tree that come down on the highway. Was that providence? Angels saving me? Or my alertness and self preservation?

Lots of ways my senses get pricked up and I am learning to listen to them. I believe it to be human instinct, not something supernatural.

Several years ago, I noticed a man lurking around in the parking lot. I had a feeling he was going to mug me -- and he did. Now that I'm more mature, I should have done something to protect me, like get back in my car and locked it or screamed before he approached or something, but at the time, I didn't have that forethought. It was a learning experience - I felt strongly it was going to happen and it did.

Now my woo-woo friends would say, I was afraid something bad was going to happen and so it did... Had I been thinking more positive thoughts it wouldn't have happened. Of course, there are many times that their positive thoughts didn't work for them... so... Yeah I prefer to stick with my being aware as much as possible and learning to prevent disaster when I have a feeling something's up. Sometimes it will work and sometimes not. All I can do is what I know to do at the time. Live and learn, hopefully.

@Julie808 been thinking about how to reply to this ..the definition of supernatural is phenomenon that is beyond our capabilities to gain knowledge with science of what's what.. doesn't seem paranormal .. cause not sure if we'll ever have the capability ..

Just cause the Supernatural and paranormal exits , doesn't mean that we have any knowledge of a God or that we have the knowledge that there isn't anything more ..

Yeah so I'm agnostic lol

@laidback1 I disagree with your definitions. To me supernatural means not from nature or above nature, and doesn't require knowledge about it. One might imagine it's there, or think it's there or believe it's there or not, it doesn't matter. Therefore, I have no belief in supernatural deities and occurrences.

I don't have to believe in something for it to exist, but since I have no knowledge of these supernatural entities existing, I prefer to live my life in the reality around me. , Everything still makes perfect sense by way of natural consequences for me. You may have a different experience or belief and that's okay as long as your beliefs don't interfere with my enjoyment of life.

Lots of people who think/feel like you around me where I live -- so I stick to my current way of thought until something (not someone) convinces me otherwise. I will likely die a happy agnostic/atheist. In other words, a happy humanist. πŸ™‚

@Julie808 it's not my made up definition it's the litaral definition from the dictionary..

Realizing that the supernatural and paranormal actually exists doesn't make you some believer in something that can't be proved that has to control your life ..

Yes, that’s the sign of a cult. They think they have some special secret knowledge that only they know and it can change yourself and the world.πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ
