Even though I was there, I have no clue, but feel that we begin our learning while still in the womb..sounds, music, voices, even the meanings do present us with learning....as we are finished and delivered to the world (being dramatic as opposed to shooting out," ) we are equipped with our operating system, as a computer is, and our journey to fill the hard drive starts for real...we don't really forget things in a healthy mind, we just need to search. sometimes our hard drives become corrupted and we lose data.

This is what I see so much of with religion planting virus in the minds of children, some of which will be caught and removed by good programming...some become so deeply burned into memory, the only way they are uninstalled is by death....but what concerns me more are those who become incapable of functioning totally, be it arrogance by ignorance, or ignorance that begets arrogance. Simple fact is we are all of the human race, we need to give everyone a degree of acceptance, regardless and when they violate that trust, THEN is when judgement is called into place...

Whether the hard drive says we are an apple, or pc, the functions are so similar as to be able to communicate, as we humans, male, female, do...there are other formats, other programs, but ultimately they are similar, just as we humans need to be....gay ? Straight ? Bi? what difference does it make we all mate, we all want people in our lives who we can share things. Some straight people enjoy gay sex acts, and some gays enjoy straight sex acts...so who is to decide who is right or wrong ? All those I have ever met who claimed it to be wrong are religious people who have no room to think, but only follow the mandated of bigoted leadership who thru their hatred, attract others who become dead head followers...I so respect the simple act of "THINKING" as the most responsible in each persons life..

I believe strongly in the idea of epigenetics. I feel that there is, in some measure, genetic memory. The experiences our mothers have affect our genetics in a way which modify us (physically and mentally- which is physical) going forward for generations. A young woman's trauma can redound to the child. That is not "original sin". That is too much cortisol flooding the system of a woman living with trauma, over and over.
We are a combination of "nature" and nurture. The bias of others does not imply wrongness in anything beyond their own opinion. Yes, there are some "universal" wrongs- if the individual in question has the right biological components to given them what is commonly referred to as a conscience. Take, for instance, the rabid infatuation of much of the population with shows like Dexter, or Walking Dead, or... the examples are endless. Does our fascination mean that we lack a conscience? Is there some vicarious element? Likely. The majority of us, however, are physically nauseated at the idea of actual physical harm to others. It's my supposition that this is, in part, because of the trauma our mothers have experienced. We are both fascinated and repulsed by the violence because we know that it has some long term-effect on the world.
I also feel that some rely on religion because the strong male image (a central principle in most religions) is supposed to protect the mother from the trauma.
We are (none of us) prepared to determine what is right or wrong.

My brother's wife was in our band and pregnant. We worked 6 nights a week. She worked up to the week she delivered. When their son came out he had his hands over his eyes. The doctor thought it was becuase of the bright lights night after night. She came back to work 2 weeks later. We made a bed for the baby by the sound board. We had a lady who did sound for us at that time, and she would watch the baby. When we were playing he would sleep. When we went on break he would wake up. A long way to go to agree with that first paragraph.

While I was pregnant with my son, my husband and I used to go to see our friend perform at various venues in the state on weekends and he would always ask me to come up and sing a set or two with him. After my son was born, if he would get fussy, all I had to do is sing any one of those songs and he would immediately quiet down and not take his eyes off me. It was so cool.

@ThinkKate Ain't it cool! ?

@NormCastle We all were born godless, that's a fact that even religious people know (even without really understanding why) and they "fix" that little issue with the sacrament of baptism. Point in case, the hard disk drive, as it was very well put on your posting, it is EMPTY when a baby is born. All those "beliefs" that come afterwards ( different application software packages, to continue with your great analogy) are learned and IMPOSED by someone else's agenda or interest. Here is the kick... how is it even possible that so many people cannot see that? That's the part beyond me. Great posting my friend. Have a great weekend !!!!

Wow this is such a good post. You are correct in saying the learning begins in the womb. And then so much is inherent on your family of origin. People going through generations of crazy thinking because they do not know anything else and never have the ability to step away from their comfort zone to explore other realities
