That's pretty much how I think about it, too.

Just. Shame they are getting so expensive and the libraries around me are useless

I live within a Bible Belt where the local library refuses to carry Atheist books...so I also find them useless !!

I am sure everyone have their own reasons to read. Its just good, plain and simple

I would love to say it’s to gain knowledge and expand my mind but it’s pure escapism.

Please pessimism does not help you or anyone around you, escapism is for the ignorant.

@Constantine Wow! All of that knowledge and still an officious twit.

I read because I like to stretch my mind and my thought processes. Sometimes I read just for fun because I don't watch TV. It's also a great way to become familiar with words I don't use and also often gives me examples of how I can write or express ideas better.

The "Mind" must be connected to the Outside world, a world where Thinking must be related Practices that are larger than your self!

@Constantine Agreed but I believe you start internally and then when you have explored you move to the external

I share my thoughts to relate the joy of discovery, the joy of enlightenment and the joy of learning. It is agift. You don't have to take it.
