The World I Work In and an Insane Symbol of our Dysfunctional Country

Yesterday an email went out to all of campus telling us not to worry if we heard gunshots today. Community and campus police squads were going to be conducting active shooter drills. Guns would be shooting blanks.

Another sign of this crappy country. My building has been without air conditioning for a week now. 92-95 degree temps with high humidity. It has not been pleasant. The building unit is outdated and on its last leg. Even though tuition, as well as other college costs, are at an all-time high, leadership cannot deem it necessary to keep facilities updated. What can I say...the overlords of higher ed and their greed.

I have had to windows in my office open with a fan going to keep the air circulating. So I imagine I will be hearing gun shots today outside as a part of my workday.
