Her Vastly Changed World
Find Your Voice - Free Verse
So what?
So What if you call yourself "Woke?"
If You Saw Injustice and Never "Spoke?"
Your Eyes Saw It.
Your Ears Heard It.
Your Skin Prickled at the the Thought of YOUR Child. HIS Sister. ANY Father.
ANY. ANY. ANY!
GONE. GONE. GONE!
You Say You're Woke
Your Eyes Saw It.
Your Ears Heard It.
Your Skin Prickled.
You Need to Find Your Voice.
You AIN'T Woke.
You Need to Wake Up from this Nightmare and SCREAM!

It's proper haiku form, and it's relevant.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, I thought Haiku was 5 syllables, 7 syllables and 5 syllables. I spent 4 years in the Orient ( Military ) that is where I first heard about this style. I was also told that if you write 3 over a life time you were considered a master...Did my teacher razzle me with his intelligence or baffle me with his bullshit? I really would like to know.

You're correct. But if your voice is fluid soft enough "swirled" and "world" are one syllable. heh
It's not a very serious contest. And being this is the bible belt, I'm sure something about the healing blood of Yasweh is going to win anyway.
The Haiku form is rough. It is hard to convey an image that concisely. That was a slight alter of one I did ages ago in a class. She accepted it....so.
The free form one I pounded out in a few minutes.
@BufftonBeotch Thanks for the reply...I was going to ask for a refund!!! To me all poetry is an art form in itself, no matter what label you put on it...Thanks again! I have a few poems posted here any insight?
