PRC propaganda.

Propaganda for sure

@barjoe I like to read as widely as possible, "Know thy enemy" and try to understand the other perspective. I understand this is the official line, yet not all Chinese will concur with it. I dislike certain nation's foreign policy whilst knowing that people are people, basically with the same needs and wants as everyone everywhere else.
If a movement started in Hawaii for independence, historically and geographically there would be a better case than Taiwan. If a foreign nation encouraged this independence drive both philosophically and materially, the US would be rather pissed off like China seems to be atm
Recent history in this part of the world, from a Chinese perspective, they see Australia enter defense agreements that will allow US and UK nuclear assets be based in the current nuclear free Asia pacific region. Then when the Solomon Islands talk to China, it's a major issue we were not consulted before agreements were made, conveniently omitting the fact that is exactly what the US/ UK/ Aust just did with AUKUS.
In short, I can see China's point of view without agreeing with their position.

I wish Australia would grow some independent balls. IMO no nation should enter defense agreements with the US of A whilst the Patriot Act is active; madness as it bypasses all the checks and balances to avoid entering new conflicts at US whim. This would be beneficial for people there also as international refusal may lead to renouncing that Act back home, pushing your constitution back to the fore and stripping powers away from state surveillance agencies.
It's better to have friends with balls that will pull mates up than "Yes" men and women who unconditionally support all that you do.

@puff Yes but even tho some of the people of China don't concur, they dare not publicly declare that for fear of being sent to prison. Russia is the same way, it may be worse than the Soviet era as far as human rights.

In a sane world the people of Taiwan, or any territory, could decide for themselves what nation they wanted to be in or even create their own nation. Unfortunately we still live in the colonial world where the powers that be draw lines on the map and pretend they are nations, irregardless of what the people living there think. A world where people could decide for themselves would be radically different border wise than the one we live in now.
