What is your favourite word and why?

Mine is "floccinaucinihilipilification" - the act of estimating to be worthless. When I worked in the library at university, we had an old, massive, multi-volume Oxford English Dictionary. This word was in it. It's fun to use, then grin impishly and declare, "And I can spell it!"

When it comes to elongated words try this one, being a place name on a road sign in Porongahau New Zealand Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu

Looks as if someone had a coughing fit in the middle of painting the sign ...

Maybe it was the entire conversation used by an ancient maori when ordering a McDonalds
hamburger ?

JFC how do you say that?! Great meaning but BLEEP!
❤ .50 words.

I prefer KFC

Oh - and I also like:-

TMESIS: (noun) A form of expression where a word is divided and another word is placed in the middle for emphasis (examples - 'Abso-fucking-lutely!' and 'Sen-bloody-sational!' )

It is the only word in the English language that begins 'tm'

I did not know this word at all.

I love many words, one of my favourites is:-

MELLIFLUOUS: (adjective) Of a sound, pleasingly smooth and musical to the ear (example - 'Her voice was soft and mellifluous, in every way a delight to hear' )

I've always enjoyed this word, too.

Great word.

Pyroclastic because its so powerful and just flows off the tongue beautifully.

deadly

Bastard/s. I'm not sure why. Maybe it has something to do with "They killed Kenney, you bastards!"

I like to use it whenever I can. 🙂

FUCK. It's versatility may be unmatched, and as an activity it is unmatched. Also it is much easier to spell than floccinaucinihilipilification. ?

Easier to say, too. I've heard so many variants of your favourite word, I think it could have its own dictionary.

@pixiedust Now there's a thought! ?

If you can use it in a scrabble game, I'll be impressed.

We did. Was useful for squeezing longer words into unexpected places.
