UK News
Liz Truss, don't like her already.
She lifts the ban on fracking in the UK the day her monarch dies, knowing full well her new King leans towards environmental protection.
Fracking is an absolute environmental nightmare (ask people in Memphis USA, or Flint) not only destroying Formation integrity but through the production and use of fracking chemicals. Hope the UK has no water table it hopes to exploit during the next dry spell, because fracking will compromise the integrity of any aquifers. It was originally banned in 2019 because of a fear of seismic activity, which suggests aquifers are present. As the world moves away from fossil fuels, the UK now want to export these fuels by 2040. Oh, and they will bail out the poor power companies now, rather than consumers, just like the 2008 financial crash when rather than bail out mortgage holders, they bailed out banks. All with our (taxpayer) money of course.
I would urge Charles to make a name for himself and stop this shit,

Ed: The crazy thing is this energy crisis justifying fracking is totally artificial.
Nord II was developed for Europe's energy security but certain interests have always opposed it. It is not Russia refusing to trade oil, it is a self inflicted ban on trading with Russia (unless essential military stuff etc of course, shit "those in the know" need)

If you are a really cynical politician, with no conscience, then you look for a busy day to hide bad news.

Mind you, I did not think that LT was that smart, maybe she just got lucky ?

She reeks of a puppet, just doing as instructed

@puff Or mindlessly following her guru M. Thatcher, who was a right wing puppet of the capitalist institutions, but did at least have some talent, charisma and grasp. Which will kind of make it hard for L.T. to follow, that act.

@Fernapple She reminds of our last PM, Skidmark Morrison, who got in when Dutton had a go to replace Turnbull but didn't have the numbers so skidmark was the compromise end result that no-one was really happy with. What a self serving "Dad joke" loony he turned out to be.

A truss is a support belt for a hernia so I cracked up when I heard that's the name of the new PM. I said she must be a real ball breaker and nobody got the joke.

Charles has no political power…the last king who thought he could overrule Parliament came a cropper and lost his head in 1649….he was the first King Charles!

I see it as the new PM telling the new Monarch how the relationship is going to be. She's giving him the finger. A great way for her to honour him ascending the throne. And how's the timing? And the fact this major about face came days after she attained power as PM whilst all were distracted.

The idea of a Monarch is that King IS country, one and the same. Fracking is giving the finger to future generations ie we cannot exploit shale oil in a sustainable way now, so why not wait until we can ie leave that resource for future generations who will do it better? King is country, so is it not the role of the Monarch to protect his country and by doing so, protect himself? A King/ Queen is just a symbol and have no political power but they are an important symbol. He should speak up if he has any sense of duty in the role he finds himself in, which I think he does.
Think your new PM is gunna be a piece of work.

@puff I think she’s going to be a great reason for the majority of the electorate to vote the Tories out at the next General Election…the sooner the better.

@Marionville, @puff the news of ERII's death unfortunately resulted in this news of the bailout being relegated to the newspaper's remote pages. It would not surprise me to find that either the tories had ERII assasinated or ERII took a powder in desperation having met her new PM.!

By the time they are voted out they will have done more irreparable damage like the homeless, NHS loans, fracking & even inviting Russia to nuke the country.

Have a look at the Dutch situation -
