Going to see the Washington Nationals play tomorrow. Made me think of y'all on this site. Because?
Wondering if anyone else experiences this... Once I was the veil was torn -- when I was willing to see life for what it is (ok, what I perceive it is - though I know I'm right!) -- it got harder to play along with other illusions.
One example: Baseball is pitched (ha, ha, uhm...) as an American past time that brings people together to celebrate athleticism and hard work. Beer, hotdogs! And I'm going because I'm new to the area, want to feel part of something and spend time with a good friend yelling and laughing.
But.. As I'm watching today's game to catch up... The Nationals payroll alone is $189 million dollars (minimum). The owner had a net worth of 5.2 billion in 2016. I'll be one of thousands of sheep-le who are throwing our time, money and energy into cheering for... what?
What is it all about again? Why do I care who wins? My nephew on the T-ball field -- that's a different story. And maybe that's the only beneficial function of these pro teams (ok, what I perceive as beneficial - though I know I'm right!) -- giving youth something to strive toward and the rest of us a distraction.
Ok, so here's my actual question: does anyone else see illusions in everyday life? How do you, eh hum, stay in the game? Or do you not even try and are happy dancing to the beat of your own drummer?
I think life is an illusion.
Touché! Fair point.
Just enjoy the game...go Nats! Life's too short.
