Do you see the irony here in the great non-contrast between Capitalism turning fascist and authoritarian communism? Both look the same with the state directing lives for the non-benefit of ordinary people but the benefit of those "more equal than others".

In my view the question for America is "What are you?"
Are you Capitalist in which case the market rules and if a demand is filled with a supply then all good. If the product/ company suck they will fail.
Or are you communist where the government dictates "one rule fits all" and private enterprise is fully regulated by government.

Reminds me strongly of that great quote...........

NB Fascism is simply when it is government for business/ corporations rather than people. The use of military is the best example of who government is working for.

@puff I see only a farm selling a dangerous product to unsuspecting people. Get over yourself. And oh, by the way...I wouldn't whine that it's my right to sell putrid produce to my neighbors if, for instance, my tomatoes were rotten.

@puff How do you know it's an inferior product until you die from it? So you would say it's okay to let a few people croak just to test the product for others?

If people die then prosecute, like you do with fentanyl OD's from prescription drugs then. Every single food market and producer would be shut down at some stage if suspicions were enough and all prosecuted evenly in the eyes of the law as has happened here.
I see this as government over-reach for very dubious reasons, but to the benefit of those who already dominate. Will this encourage the start up of other alternate ie not mono-culture factory farms, farming enterprises? I don't think so.

@puff The difference is that vaccines are tested before being used on the general public. Tainted organic milk is not. This is a very simple concept.

@Organist1 Yes vaccines are tested before being used on the general public, that is 5 years of testing. (You can of course get around this if emergency approve, but that by no means equates testing fully).
Also a very simple concept, stop them selling raw milk if that is the problem, rather than shut down all operations with a business destroying fine.

@puff they have been repeat offenders. This place is fairly close to my town. They are legendary.

@Organist1 Is it just dairy that is the problem? We get the odd death here when some drongo drinks raw milk clearly labeled "Not for human consumption" they use in the beauty industry I think.
Nothing is all bad or good. Do you think the whole place should be shut down eg is it that bad? Could it have been handled better eg if repeat offenders, why was a proper deterrent punishment the first time not used so they could be learned? I'm guessing it's all been wrist slapping thus far.

@puff I'm not a food safety expert, nor do I know the details of this case, but I don't think they should be allowed to keep selling an unsafe product. It's the same as any dangerous product, from unsafe cribs to car parts which can cause death. The difference is that this farm keeps breaking the law by selling a product that is unsafe. I don't see a problem with shutting them down. I would hate to see someone I care about, or anyone for that matter, get sick or die because of them.

@Organist1 I agree, especially raw milk. I was probably triggered a bit as I followed the farmer's protest in the Netherlands closely (Mother's from there). If you wish to be a commercial enterprise, quality control with minimum standards set is important. This sounds like that rather than a community farm which I was thinking.
In Australia water is controlled by regulation for small farms and rationed, but if you're a big cotton/ rice grower or run a mine......the rules don't apply. Politicians favour big enterprise over small ones.
Just don't like bullies and I sense a bit of that going on here by government authorities on behalf of other sponsors.
