Here's a WTF are they doing. Cops stop a suspect for a possible weapons charge (road rage incident(. The cops parked on a railroad track. They put the suspect in their car. While the cops are searching the suspect's truck a train can be heard coming. It takes the cops a full 15 seconds to realize a train is coming. The cops run to safety, leaving the suspect in their car. Train hits their car. Video in the article.

Not one of the police present figured it was a bad idea to leave their cruiser on the tracks (much less with their suspect inside). Extremely pathetic.

Stupid must be a requirement at the police academy because even a child would know better.

Stupid and uncaring. I was stopped for speeding once. I was guilty. The cop was writing the ticket when a bicyclist flipped and splayed out right in front of us on the road. The guy wasn't moving. I said, can we help that guy, and the cop told me to stay in the car. I said I'm not trying to avoid the ticket, but he needs help. The cop said he would take care of him when he was done with me. I shut up so the cop could finish. Total uncaring asshole. The guy finally started to move; an ambulance needed to be called.

@Beowulfsfriend This kind of attitude from law enforcement has been creeping up for decades. Some seem to have developed a superiority complex that is ignored/encouraged by their superiors.

In your story the officer should have immediately gone to the aid of the bicyclist but instead prioritized the ticket making money more important than human life. I'm afraid this kind of behaviour is going to eventually become the norm instead of being an aberration.

It is beyond irresponsible that the Platteville police department employed those potentially lethal dimwits as cops in the first place.

Everything was going so well . . . right up until these asshole cops ask was she in there? JFC! I sure hope that is one hell of an attorney she has; ya know those ass wipes are gonna try and mitigate the whole thing by saying well if she had not done what she was accused of doing she would not have been put in the back of a cop car. There really never seemed to be any real concern for that poor woman.
I can not even imagine the terror she must have experienced.

I saw the video of this horrendous clusterf*&k! Why did nobody think to move the car off the tracks????? I see years of litigation and suffering ahead...for everyone involved.
