Study shows to lay on your right side after taking pain medications. The meds take effect quicker. I heard this on the local news and found this study from Johns Hopkins.

Except my right shoulder, for which I take those pain medications, would cause me to Scream if I even gently rolled onto my right side......
Blanket advice is So helpful, pretty much Always, ain't it?

Why would anybody be impatient for a drug to take effect short of excruciating pain?

The study was for pain medications.

I’m doing it all wrong! 😂
I can’t sleep unless I’m on my left side.

Throughout the night we probably toss and turn more than a hundred times, therefore, any notion of sleeping on the left side or the right side is nonsense if you really think about it. Your body does what is necessary.

@ASTRALMAX I may toss and turn, but I always turn to my left side to fall asleep, fall back asleep, and achieve restful sleep.

When I was pregnant, my doctor told me to lie on my left side to prevent nausea after eating.

Enteric coated pills will not release medication until they pass beyond the pyloric sphincter (into the duodenum). The stomach curves down and to the right. There are also more blood vessels to absorb what you take in further down the GI tract. I assume this position facilitates gastric emptying and is the reason for the results they saw.

I remember they used to say you should lay on you right side because laying on your left side puts additional pressure on your heart.

I've also read the right side is good for blood pressure as well.
