I know that I'm taking this way out of context and that he's referring to Trump owning his football team, as opposed to owning him as a slave, but this was just too delicious to pass up.
Herschel Walker on Donald Trump:
"We really became friends. Not just because he was my owner, but we became really really close friends."
He actually had a personal services contract with Trump, that is Trump could have asked him to do anything and as long as it wasn't illegal, he was contractually obligated to do it. Trump was more like a slaveholder than a football team owner. Many of the athletes that he signed required a personal services contract to insure that if the USFL went bankrupt like so many other of Trump's ventures, they would get paid.
