I have also been a long time expat who returned home. They may not like the direction China is heading, but they are in for a shock if they think "home" will be as they remembered. All the Western countries have turned more authoritarian, with surveillance of citizens now generally accepted, censorship, unwillingness to tolerate dissent and ideological agenda driven politics the norm now.
