This is an obscure question and it may not get much attention but is still worth the effort.
What is you take on female music conductors?
I am passionate about classical music. It uplifts, inspires, gladdens and saddens me. As of late it has helped calm me given all that is going on in the world/country. Reading this article and seeing another gender based barrier being broken, especially in a discipline that is close to me inspired me to tears (guys do and should sometimes cry). What is it about passion like this that can be addictive and transformative? Why do some things inspire awe and others do not? I am sure there are studies and perhaps Victoria can pull something out of her “magic” hat and inform us as she so often graciously does.
Although I am not familiar with the world of professional music conductors, I am fully aware of the barriers women face in my profession of software engineering and IT. it's heartbreaking to know that we live in a world where gender and color are still barriers and that we as a species fail so horribly when it comes to social equality.
Like you, I absolutely love classical music and I have composed several pieces of music. You can listen to my finished compositions here on YouTube:
Enjoy!!!
