I want to get off my chest, it seems like a disproportionate amount of time I run into arguments that one "should" believe in some sort of supernatural entity (a god, of some sort) because that is the way to be happy. One can lean into the Bible, or some other faith, and life is good with faith, and that's that.

This argument to me amounts to: "It doesn't matter whether a god exists or not, I don't want to argue that, I just think life is more likely to be happy if I throw out my reasoning ability and throw my hands in the air and engage in a lot of meditation or prayer or whatever, but view it as communing with, or having faith in, a god."

What is the most annoying argument for belief in a supernatural entity?

Move to Qatar and become a slave, arrested for being an atheist.

I have no interest in working in any country that is run by a bunch of monstrous theocrats.

I just want to agree with you that it is annoying.

You cannot be a good person or have morals without religion or a God. Like really? Even animals can show kindness and save another animal's life. I always hate this argument especially considering how many people have been killed in the name of someone's "god".

Because the majority do .

Ah, the old mob mentality. Yes, this is quite common.

All are equally annoying and distracting from reality.

#1 is correct but dumb.
#2 evolves by science
#3 just is

I don't bother arguing anymore.

I should believe in one God, because if I don't. I'll be burning and be tortured in hell forever and eternity. And won't learn one fucking lesson
or one thing from earth or in hell. On what the right answers are from only one God, among millions of Gods. Save the trip to hell, just be a God freak and experience hell on earth.

yes, what a brutal insult to the intellect that one is. what sort of creator would possibly set up such a hideously malevolent scenario including being miserable for all of eternity for sone alleged sin

Yes, but remember he loves you.

Fear of death compels people to cling to religion. When science conquers death, religion will become extinct.

fear of death and questioning where one comes from is why gods exist. when you can't explain where you come from and where are you going, create a god to be your keeper.

Also, the responsibility of humans to hold human life as precious and respect one another is something humans must take upon themselves. No god will change that.
