Did the Democrats miss an opportunity?
That the next speaker would be a Republican was certain. If the Democrats had cast a few votes McCarthy's way then he would not have had to make deals with the far right in order to get elected speaker. This might have blunted efforts to swing the House to the far right. I would have loved to see what the faces of the Taliban 20 would have looked like when they realized that their support was no longer needed.

Does the word "quisling" ring any bells? Don't be one!

They definitely should have asked what he had to offer. They may get another chance since now it only takes one malcontent to call for a new speaker. McCarthy's on very thin ice.

In fact, that sounds like a good plan. Don't vote for a traitor but pull his a$$ out of the fire and maybe he's more grateful.

This will help expose Republicans for the piece of shit that they are. Politically it'll benefit Democrats. Piece of shit Republican won't be bipartisan no matter what.

I don't think it's possible to expose themselves any more than they already have. Almost half our voters seem to like the fact that they are traitors.

Interesting thought. It would have also encouraged a little more bi-partisanship.

Americans don't seem to care about bipartisanship so manipulating them through scoring on advantage is of greater value.
