If we really are atheists, why is there so much talk in this forum about religion?

I've noticed that myself Abbelyne. Maybe Agnostic filters the posts and promotes those that are religion bashing while suppressing those, like yours that aren't. I noticed that this discussion wasn't in my posts list. I found it by visiting your profile.

That's very interesting Chippie.

Fantastic question which I use to rail against. I've found it's simply easier to avoid them. There are plenty of other good topics winging around.

I know I'm going to cop some flack by saying this, but if we find it necessary to go on and on about our brand of atheism, isn't that almost akin to pushing a religion? I feel comfortable being an atheist and don't need to justify, discuss or have my position validated. But maybe the many anti-religion, pro-atheism posts are validating for the forum rather than for individuals.

@Abbelyne This is my personal take and I'm sure it doesn't fit the majority of thought, but the 'younger' atheist (etc) complain about religions. The 'older' or more mature atheist don't want to talk about it because it's not a part of their lives. It's like talking about Santa Claus every day. This site tries (fairly successfully) to have something attractive for any level of nonbelief. And when people look for justification, approval, or validation, it shows their insecurities. At least that's the way I see it. One good thing about this site is you can choose your own direction.

@AstralSmoke Are you trying to tell me that I fall into the 'old dudes' category AS?

@Abbelyne Mature probably. We're too young to be old.

@AstralSmoke Very diplomatic 😉
