The picture does not definitively show the slide open. Nor does it mean it wasn't opened and unloaded for the picture. And if it was open when the dog good ahold of it, he could have potentially closed it on his tongue.
Any way you slice it, the owner is an irresponsible fuckin' idiot, and so is anyone unwilling to agree with that statement.

I have quite a few, I like them, I have fun shooting them, even beat my ex-Marine MAGA Uncle in his annual "Chicken Hunt" shooting competition, which he then never invited me to again because he's a sore loser. My problem is with irresponsible gun owners (and idiots who defend them.) If the 2nd Amendment people actually admonished idiots like this instead of defending them, maybe the liberals would be more apt to move toward the middle on this issue.

If you knew the first thing about firearms, you'd know that there's no way to tell from that picture if the gun is or was loaded.
Regardless, the fact that the owner was so careless with their gun that their dog could get it, that obviously means any other of a number of things could happen like a child getting it and loading it if it is in fact unloaded.
