The weather: I pumped gas in the 70s-80s off and on and the major topic was always the weather. I guess some people have problems with more serious topics. So I'll start from TN. It was fricking snowing this morning. I moved from NH to TN to get away from snow. Now I refuse to drive with the Southerners cuz they don't know how to drive in snow. When teenagers in NH get hold of a car in winter they speed in parking lots, slam on brakes, spin the car in circles. So we KNOW snow.

what good is knowing snow if you're cornbread is broke?

I don't know what cornbread is so it can probably remain broke.

@K9JetLee999 it can remain so, but cornbread with pinto beans and a chunk of onion is quite the tasty tummy triad. some prefer a selected relish instead of onion. in any case it is adored in the south, super cheap and quite tasty once you've purchased the much recommended cast iron skillet.

@hankster But this was invented in the south with grits.....

@K9JetLee999 grits are another southern delicacy.

@hankster One of my friends, when we were in our teens, was influenced by some Southern recipe she read or saw someplace and we had to go out at night to a little pond, attract some bullfrogs with her flashlight, then kill them (not me) then cut off the legs and have us a frog leg eating party,. Tastes like chicken.
Forgot to mention the skin peeling yeah that was rough.

@K9JetLee999 i think you are talking about "frog gigging". frog legs are a delicacy also, but seems to me a lot of work for not much reward. but tradition can go a long way in directing folks behavior.

@K9JetLee999 something to consider is that many or most people in the south had no money or stores to spend it in. hunger can go a long way in driving diets some might find unusual.

@hankster True, no one in NH ever invented frog eating. Now maple syrup and lobstah yeah and chowdah but it was NOT involved with peeling off skin. ICK

@K9JetLee999 you could skip that step if your hungry enough.

Come up to Syracuse. We’re almost snowless with an average snow total of 120+”. Not this year.
There are still lots of cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks off in the ditches during the first snows . They forget that 4WD doesn’t let you stop any faster. Then sanity returns.
