“HISTORICAL IRONIES”: Fritz Haber, a Polish-born Jew and later German citizen, winner of the 1918 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for is work in the synthesis of Ammonia from Nitrogen and Hydrogen to be used in fertilizers such as Ammonium Nitrate, also useful in explosives. During WWI he was promoted to Captain for his work in the creation of Chlorine Gas, a significant factor in trench warfare deaths. When criticized for the inhumanity of such methods of warfare he argued “Death is death”. His wife, a leading pacifist and women’s rights advocate, later committed suicide over her disgust for his work. In 1933, he was relieved of his govt. pension and his civil rights, along with every other Jew, whereupon he took refuge in the U.K. He died of a heart attack in Switzerland. One of the more significant outcomes of his earlier works in pesticides for use in food distribution and preservation was the creation of a compound which was used very effectively in aerosol form by the man who denied him his citizenship, Adolf Hitler. Yes, you guessed it. This compound, originally called Zyclon, was, in the 1940s renamed, Zyclon B!

What is up with the lord works in mysterious ways reference!? You ain’t on FB…..🤨

Didn't you notice that I put that platitude in quotations? It's called "irony".

@fishline79 Quotes don’t equate to irony Mate, just sayin….🤔

The universe does work in mysterious ways though, indeed….

@Buck The quote isn't irony. My use of the quote is irony. Never mind, I shouldn't have to explain this to you. I write what I want .

Ironic isn't it.

Even if I hadn't been facetious, I would never advocate denying anyone the right to their own beliefs, as long as they don't force them on others or practice them in the context of government like we do in our hypocritical country. I admire historical religious figures like Thomas More, or William Wilberforce or Mother Theresa or Desmond Tutu, or the Dalai Lama who use their religious beliefs for good, but, sadly, for every one of those, there are ten who don't.
