Not far from the truth, I was kicked of a school production of "Oh what a lovely war" in the 1970s for refusing to recant my statement that the British Empire was made up of countries we conquered for the purposes of exploitation, slavery and pillaging, instead of the actual line that the empire was all about collonising and civilizing lesser races for their own betterment.

Granted it wasn't JUST the English who set out to exploit other countries and populations through colonization... they were just the most successful at it over the long term.

We are supposed to be, as a world, over tht kind of thing, but Russia hasn't seemed to have gotten the memo.
