So, I am just going to stand on my soap box for a minute... I had to attend my sister in law's funeral today. I know that we are in Alabama, but I'm outraged by being besieged by bible thumpers who can't just give me their condolescences and move on, but need to have a hysterical Jesus moment and preach to us. All I want to say is "I don't know you Lady. I am not christian as you have assumed, and I really don't give a shit what you think since I hope to never see you again. But thanks for all of the fried chicken and deserts you brought to save my soul." Stupid ass people.

Funerals are very similar to weddings with the only difference really being the corps. it's just a way of making a lot of money over what is a religious ceremony. the only person who doesn't care whether you're at the funeral at all and doesn't care what you think is the one in the box. I understand the family pressure of going to funerals. I didn't go to my sisters because I couldn't see the point and didn't like the company but loved my sister just as much as if I had gone. I'm not having a funeral for sure.

I'm so sorry, friend. Been thinking about you and the Mrs. today. I have a pretty good idea how aggravating and stressing it was to have all that Christianity lobbed onto you at such a sad time.

Thanks, Deb. In the midst of all the sadness, being preached at gave my wife a moment of fierce anger that kept her from crying for about an hour. Not exactly a silver lining...she is a mess over losing her sister. It will take a lot of time to heal this wound.
