I just joined also. My mom and dad gave me a choice if I wanted to be reglious. My extended family is Christian, they have pushed Christain stuff on me when I was growing up. I didn't agree with a bunch of it. So I haven't told anyone that I'm athiest. Not many people know, only my mom, brother and a few friends.

I go to a Christian school where sometimes it feels like the staff take whatever liberties they can to pin me as an monstrous asshole.
I walked into the office to sign myself out, and there was a pregnant lady, I went to walk around her to get the sign out sheet (I thought that was where the secretary was putting it down) and she mistook it for me walking towards where she was at the sign out sheet, there are two booklets, so she steps back,before I can clarify the situation the secretary loudly announces,
"Oh sure just push the pregnant lady out of the way."

Once my sister and I parked our car in the school parking lot. We went to leave at the end of the day only to find that someone parked their car RIGHT behind ours. We where forced to walk into the office where, I admittedly annoyed, asked the secretary if she could ask the jerk who parked their car there to please move it. Turns out it was a teacher and he did that to teach us to not park in his spot. At the beginning of the year we where told that teachers parking was in the back, none of the spots out front are marked as teacher spots, the only way to know IF a spot out front is a teachers is if you have a map that shows which spots are teachers spots. So my sister and I try to apologize, saying we where unaware that it was a teachers spot. Nah, they didn't accept it. The teacher and secretary loudly berated us in front of the passing students.

Another time I went to pick up a sheet and noticed that once again they spelled my name incorrectly. I've been at this school for four years, you would think the ladies in student services would at least remember how to spell my name... Well I asked,
"Why do you guys never spell my name correctly?" I wasn't being rude, I was just wondering why my name was never spelt right. Well the teacher there berated me saying I was an ungrateful arrogant child and that I should be grateful for her printing the sheet out for me and she made me say thank you and never answered my question...
All this started after I made it quite clear that I was an atheist and that I would not pray in the morning during the announcements.
So I kinda know what it's like to be surrounded by Christians.... though these ones aren't my family.

So sad. #resist
