I think of my grandfather, born in the late 1800's... Farmer. Twice a year they would visit relatives that were about 30 miles away, it was a huge undertaking... Getting help to tend the cows & etc. For the loooong day they were gone, a horse-drawn sleigh or carriage and food for the 8-hour or more (one-way) journey, plus layers of clothing and blankets, the visit, then home very late. No telephones, only outhouses, no modern anything. In his 70's, he and his friend drove his brand new cadillac to arizona and several other places just for the helluv it. I doubt any generation will ever see such massive changes in one lifetime, ever.

Consumer profiling is one step away from telling you (rather than just suggesting to you) what you want before you even know you want it, they already know what you need, selling you what you need is easy, selling you what you want for more than you can or want to pay, takes a little more cunning.

I agree, but am powerless to change it, so pay it no mind. (It’s not “big” brother; it’s the lazy one that only pays attention when there is something in it for him. BIG Brother would actually protect you)
If I had any power to change any things that need changing, this would be halfway down the list.
Tips: you don’t have to take your phone with you. You can research all you want at the library. You don’t have to have a “smart” television.

I am pretty sure that my fiber provider (TV & Internet), Frontier, started collecting my info to sell it. Now, every time I touch the remote, the system freezes for 15 seconds. I believe this is the system pulling up my file so it can append it with my latest keystrokes. This delay is hugely frustrating, and I certainly never intended to let Frontier spy on my every viewing decision. Grrrrr.... (blood pressure rising...)
