I don't know if it's good or bad, but I'm finding myself caring less and less about social media platforms, including this one. I'll stick around, as there are some folks here I'd hate to lose touch with, but I'm starting to think that there are better ways I could be spending my time. Anybody else ever feel this way? Maybe it's just a phase...

I like being on here so much better than Facebook. I use that primarily to keep in touch with friends and such I'd have no other way (Face Time is awesome for that), and for a few of the groups. I know I feel much more comfortable coming here to post and share. But by all means I know I still need to have a life, to get off the computer and actually do stuff and talk to people.

Well... it's ok to take a break from time to time. I have. I will miss a lot of friends if they just quit.

Notty, Still enjoying very much. At the moment, I am in need of an emotional outlet. This site makes me move beyond reposting cute puppy pics, to think, to use my wit and charm. I kinda feel like I'm trying to seduce everyone on Agnostic.com.

That's not to say I won't eventually feel like you do. It happens.

You're one of the reasons I'm not leaving, Phil. Glad you're here, buddy. Hugs!

@Nottheonlyone That is so suh weet! Smooches to you, too.

It's probably actually a good thing you feel that way. Making the real world work is probably a good thing.
Also, from past comment I read, you and others (of the female persuasion) have been a target of unwelcome advances which probably erodes some sense of belonging. Hope you stick around though. Having strong women with their perspective in this community is enriching to all.

Thank you for the vote of confidence.

I just pop in answer a few questions and leave until the next day really need to get away from FB though it really is full of self righteous twats these days

Nah, after all, you’re nottheonlyone

My facebook account is deactivated most of the time. I look at this site every few days when I am bored.

Me too. I find I have to go to someone else's profile to see what they're commenting on, because I get the same old posts coming up on mine (sorry if you thought I was stalking you!). Getting tiresome.

Social media lacks completeness. Used constructively it should bring like-minded people together. As an end in itself it leaves much to be desired.

With all the problems of Facebook lately, I'm concerned about any forum. I have some interesting discussions on reddit.com/r/atheism, usually with those with some form of a religious bent. I have mostly been in that site and only have a "lurking" facebook account (not my name and not my picture).

I have tried other dating sites and pretty much given up. I hardly have time for a reasonable social life at this point anyhow. The social scene in south Texas is so entrenched with religion that it just doesn't work well for me.

Yup. Me 2. I'm already thinking about moving on from this forum since it's clear nobody lives near me or near where I plan to move. But I think the new Facebook dating platform seems promising, since it encourages participants near you to meet at actual local events which you also enjoy, which sounds perfect for me!

I could maybe find a fellow birding enthusiast or hiker, for instance, instead of fielding a bunch of men who live thousands of miles away, and just want sex, and I don't do casual sex.

Depends upon what else is going on in my life, how much time I have for social media.

It's just a phase; you'll grow out of it. ?

I feel very much the same recently. At first, I just scaled way back on Facebook, and was spending a ton of time here. But more recently I'm finding myself much less engage on this site, too (though I still check in a couple of times a day, usually, but don't often stick around very long at any one time).

I think I am going to be spending more time outside in the near future

5

I've been feeling as though I'm spending too much time here lately, and that I should be doing something productive. You're not alone.

3

Of course. Time spent here should be judicious.

2

I feel the same apart from this one
