It was one reason I never paid for TV. I told both my ex partners if they want movies or sports on TV they can pay for the damn thing. I did watch but was not enthralled and when they left and the TV was canceled I really did not miss it. Could listen to sports on the radio (actually prefer baseball on the radio) and lots of free movies at the local library to borrow.
The only thing I paid for beside my internet connection is a subscription to PBS. Otherwise everything has ads and if I want to watch something free I just deal with the ads.
