What do you think about Karma?
Hey.
We all know that:
"Instant Karma will get you."
I am a yoga teacher so I get this one all the time. My answer is usually something along the lines of:
Forget about the next life, if you consistently do or say hurtful things it will come back to you in this life. You will find yourself the subject of gossip, do harm to your reputation, alienate yourself from friends and family or even get in trouble with the law. That alone is enough reason to be mindful of your speech and actions.
You said that so much better than I could! Thank you.
@CarolinaGirl60 Thanks!
It's a nice thought but its more likely if you keep acting a dick someone or something will eventually take offence. no real Karma for the Mores Murderers as they lived quite long lives in prison.
I don’t believe in karma, at least not in the sense most people do: often people think of it as the universes way of serving justice. However, I think it’s more of a statistical phenomenon. If you are a behmoth annoyance to people and continue to be for a period of time it’s likely to be only a matter of time before someone will not put up with it and attempt to put you in your place.
Same thing if you go around starting fights all the time. Eventually you’ll meet someone who wins against you either because they are more skilled or they got a lucky “critical” hit against you.
Same thing if you go around robbing banks, eventually you will slip up and the system will win against you.
I doubt it’s because the universe wills justice into existence through some mystical mechanism. To me it just seems that repeated situations will go through the full spectrum of their possible outcomes if there is a sufficiently large number of them.
