A western Victorian police officer is sentenced to four years and nine months' jail for raping and sexually assaulting a junior colleague: [abc.net.au]

Please give me one good reason why he should not have his balls chopped off without an anaesthetic.

Because civilization is supposed to be the opposite of barbarism, not an extension of it.
You start punishment fitting the crime and you are back to lynchings for murderer, mutilation for thieves and branding for adulterers, as well as castration for sex offenders.
You might be happy to walk through life with one hand cut off because you stole and apple when you were 14, but would you be happy for the same to happen to your child?

What a load of bs. The man convicted ceased to be a police officer in 2021 after 15 years on highway patrol & was being treated & probably still is being treated for PTSD. The officer & her family were supposedly in his & his wife's home to give him support over the suicide of his police partner. The report I read stated that penetration did not occur just some dick exposure, messaging, invitation to a 3 way with the convicted's wife and Trump style crutch grabbing when she was in her nightie. The jury found him guilty of sexual assault. Note also that the woman did not have medical examination & didn't report the matter for several weeks! She's a policewoman!

The rule of law is what separates civilization from barbarism. Revenge is not justice.

Criminals break the law, it's our duty to uphold it.

Because a mutilated person is going to be far more likely to reoffend and take out his new rage on other women? Careful not to leave witnesses next time? Punishment is the least effective way to change an organism's behavior, the exact opposite of Biblical teachings oddly enough.

Just me but at school we had the cane. It was the threat of punishment which curtailed our actions, not the actual punishment.
I'm sure many rapist would think twice before if they knew their knads would go. Plus I would contend that Eunuch's don't commit rape.

@puff Threat of punishment is even less effective than punishment at altering behavior. Justice based on religious notions of vengeance is both barbaric and ineffective.

@Druvius Actions have consequences. People will learn certain actions result in consequences that are negative, things they don't like.
Negative consequences, punishment.....................same shite.
If people don't like the consequences, they won't do the action. Risk Vs benefit. When potential risk (punishment) outweighs potential benefit people will think twice which is a good deterrent.
That's the way the world works, consequences from actions. Not religious.

Maybe, if the old rumor about how cops suffer at the hands of fellow-inmates is true....he'll lose his balls to Bubba & the boys???

Please read my response.

I always thought those in positions of authority should face twice the punishment of us plebs; cops, judges, teachers, priests and politicians. Any supervisor of children.
I think for rape first offence lose one ball so in this case, off with both of them.
