Uh-oh...
This was the subject of a made-for-tv movie about 10 years ago, set in an area where frozen Mammoths were defrosting. People went homicidal when infected.
Like a zombie apocalypse?
@Organist1 more plausible....in the movie mammoth remains were supposed to remain undisturbed until studied, but of course trophy hunters and profiteers were grubbing about the cache...so it was pretty satisfying when they caught the virus, but then they spread it to friends and families.
All set in "color" but 99.9% cold shades of blue & grey and Everybody wearing parkas in the cold so Very atmospheric...I wish I could remember the name of it, it was I think in 6 episodes.
@annewimsey1 That certainly is plausible!
The Thaw 2009 Starring Val Kilmer
@LenHazell53 thanks, now I do not have to jerk upright at 3am!!!!!!
This isn't a new concern. I remember reading about this back when the whole climate change thing was just getting under way. I think there was an episode of anthax from a frozen critter carcass when some previous never thawed before in our current time area caused a scare. I think it was in Siberia.
ANYway, we are moving into new areas of lets scare the fucking shit out of ourselves while completely ignoring the reality of what is happening.
The Little Ice (early 14th century to mid 19th century) earth and the people on it at the time experienced priests climbing the encroaching glacier with offerings and prayers to appease their God. hahahahahaha OH! and telling the people that potatoes were the devil's food so while there was a source of food the fools who believed the priests starved. hahahahah
Too early for a rant - yeah, there is stuff to wonder about.
I've seen a lot of what can happen as climate change advances. Too bad so few are actually willing to pay attention. Too many think technology will save us. How about we gather all the snow making machines to the artic regions and add lots of snow and ice (a not funny joke).
Yep, this is real! Along with ancient viruses and bacteria that our systems have never encountered.
Oh, I know. The possibilities are frightening.
