It's cold in space because there is no atmosphere.

It's cold on Earth because there is very little sun, so when there is very little sun, you get very little out of the solar panels.

Germany, which is at a higher latitude than most of the U.S., except Alaska, has over 80% of its electricity generated by solar power.

If you add in "reverse solar panels", than you don't even need the sun to shire to generate electricity.

Using nonrenewable (carbon based) energy sources over the long run is inefficient and has huge climate costs.
