The marrying of church and state, a recipe for enhancing power, corrupts both.
Our Founding Fathers, many of whom were deist, were painfully familiar with the evils of marrying church and state as the history of warfare and repression in Europe so tragically demonstrate. Funny how those who worship the wisdom of our Founding Fathers agree with them only when it is self-serving to do so.

Yeah, I dont' think a national day of prayer keeps "faith" with the separation fo church and state.

Honestly, I need to read on it more, but it sounds like this administration has no understanding of the fundamentals of American values and laws. It was clearly stated by our Deist Founding Fathers that they scripted our Constitution and laws for the separation of church and state. Their feelings on Christianity were also clear. And it's clear this country was NOT founded on religious freedom, but on capitalist exploitations. I would like to see all that is 'church' go away.

I don't know about that and quite frankly I don't care, as much as I don't care that today is the world wide day for NAKED gardening (Source Hammer and Nigel radio hosts yesterday afternoon). Maybe I should drive around town and if I am lucky then I may catch something pleasant

The role of chaplain to the WH - is to be filled with a white evangelist - married, with children. The previous one was a Catholic Jesuit - they're known for their radical thinking and interest in politics. Many Republicans in the WH expressed their wish to replace the other one. For Trump it's a matter of strengthening his base voters - the ones who voted him in and keep him there and probably vote him back in. "Make America Great (White) again"

Yeah, I guess it sucks. I don’t let it bother me though. As well as being athiest, I’m apolitical too. It just seems like something that will have nil effect on me unless I let it.
