Today was the first real snow day for us here in Massachusetts, and the first day I really felt seasonal depression kick in. What helps you get through the winter blues? Any tips are welcome. Last winter was the most difficult one I've had yet and I refuse to have a repeat.

I'm over in Rhode Island and i know that the winter doldrums can bring on depression. Sometimes i just find the best method for dealing with those dreary winter days is to just kind of go with it and make things the best they can be inside i.e. binge watching favorite films, shows or hunkering down and reading or listening to music, anything to keep the cold and darkness at bay a little bit. Of course, the lack of sunlight can affect you, so i find taking advantage of sunny winter days helps.

More natural light... Look for those bulbs that mimic sunlight

I live in Massachusetts also but don't get seasonal depression, however, it used to be city depression, because I live in Fall River. LOL. I used to live in a wooded area in Tiverton Rhode Island but then I had to move to Fall River, a city, buildings every where and rude people. I eventually had to except it and made friends. I would recommend hanging with friends and family and if you are ever in Fall River by accident, let me know and I'll buy you a drink (ice coffee, ice tea, a beer or sake).?????????????

I was born in Brockton and grew up in Norwell. Cold weather pisses me off 🙂

I look at all the positive things in my life. It's just snow and it's cold. It helps me appreciate the spring and summer. This to shall pass! I know it's in the bible, but it origins are Persian.

I live in Texas, so the reduced and lack outdoor activities is not an issue, but I alderman have my daughter. She keeps me going. But I do dwell my wife’s death more then I should during this time frame.

Especially recovering at home from illness I can go stir crazy. Light is the key-sun-as much as possible-my living room is my favorite room with a huge picture window with lots of light

I'm taking Vitamin D this winter, and it seems to be working. The scientific evidence on this is currently mixed, but in the winter it's something my body needs anyway and if it's just placebo I'll take it.

I left Toronto because of its long and freezing winter. But while i was there, i began to explore the concept of 'hibernation'.

I will repeat the other gal, vitamin D. Like, ALOT of it. 3000 mgs a day(double check that on google). And give it a couple,3, wks at least, to work. If you arent better in 60 days....theres always florida!
