@annewimsey500 Sadly, truthfulness and trust can be partial. I trust a given person only so far, but it's great when they surprise me. Truthfulness is often degraded by withholding information. I didn't ask my ex if she had been hospitalized for trying to commit suicide; she merely neglected to tell me. Nor did she mention she had been diagnosed as psychotic...

@racocn8 my youngest brother married someone like that...she beats him.

@annewimsey500 My best friend occasionally has to leave the woman he lives with. I don't get it. There's 'friendship' but no sex. She has extreme jealousy and controls his life tightly, even though he's never cheated. Recently, he admitted that she has sometimes been violent and beat him. He is as mild and kind as can be. It's just sad.

Lies and secrets are always toxic to a relationship.
