I was thinking about the removal and/or modification of body parts, like having tonsils removed, gallbladder, etc. It seems like most people have had something removed at one time or another. I don't believe I have. Certainly, I've lost a few teeth over the years, but otherwise, nothing. Additionally, I've never tattooed or pierced my body anywhere. It occurs to me that this may be the exception rather than the rule in the culture I live in. It is no better or worse than anyone else. I simply find the difference fascinating. I find myself feeling very grateful for this.

Lots of people have tattoos nowadays, it's part of the culture. It's funny how fast things can change. Tattoos used to be taboo not that long ago. I also don't have my appendix anymore, and some kidney stones of mine are sitting in the bottom of a sewer somewhere.
