No idea how I figured this out - I was about 12 yo.
Our mom would drive us to church on Sunday, drop us off and come back for us about an hour later.
One Sunday I just refused to go and mom said "It's good for you" and I said "If it's so good for us why do you just drop us off at the front door?"
I only realized later this was the turning point in my relationship with her. My twin continued to go to church and even today is a devote Christian.
Even on politics she is a trump/GOP supporter and I am most definitely not.
We don't really speak anymore, nothing much to talk about.
