Read Australian news though, the US resolution actually called for an immediate ceasefire, which is bullshit. I quote;

Language is important.

This is virtue signaling by the US, wording a resolution knowing it would be vetoed. Purely for the domestic audience in an election year eg "Look at the nasty Russians and Chinese stopping us helping". Disgusting considering famine has visited Gaza.

Really want a ceasefire? It is very easy. Stop supplying arms to Israel would do it. Not vetoing 3 previous UN resolutions that actually called for immediate ceasefires would have helped as well.

NB To insist, as Israel does through the US, that the UN condemn Hamas completely is insisting the UN condone a foreign occupation and remove the right to resist occupation, UN Charter. You cannot self defend an occupation. Perhaps if the US stopped insisting that the UN condemn Hamas things would be passed. The UN is not political government eg single issues only, don't lump things in to be passed on the sly. Can be a separate vote for condemning Hamas, should not be tied to anything else.
