The GOP devaluing the 2nd Amendment is to ensure they arm the mob as much as possible for the day when they give the order "GO". Probably only the upper echelon of republican circles are involved in that level of the plan, but they also have the minions across the country's legislative bodies to do the ground work.

A bit of truth: “American democracy” is American oligrarchy, rule by a few.

It’s a small step away from monarchy.

With the Citizens United ruling by SCOTUS allowing unlimited funding by corporations, a bit more truth is “American plutocratic oligarchy.”
