Hello all, I just joined up. I've never been much for social media or dating sites, but I finally decided to join the 21st century and make an account here. Mainly because it is so difficult to meet like minded people living in the rural midwest. How does everyone like it here?

You are sure to find here many (most? all?) of the same general features and dynamics of other online communities. This is both "pro" and "con".

Unique to this site, I believe--and strictly a "pro", in my book--is the caliber and nature of intelligent discourse that may be found here.

Enjoy.

@Lukian Decisions, decisions!

@phxbillcee I haven't given the meal nor the activities schedule yet.

@germangirl90439 Just because we're rational, doesn't mean we aren't all a little "off" in so many other ways!!! 😉

@germangirl90439 Awww c'mon!!! Embrace the madness!!!! 😉

Welcome 2 the community and the century☺

Ha thanks. I work in IT so usually the last thing want to do after work is stare at a computer screen, but I feel like I'll like it here.

@dmemm84 I hear you man. I finally went on fb in 2017 -much like you I wasn't much of one for social media. This is a good site though. The people are for the most part quality. I look forward to reading your posts, comments and chatting in the forums.

Hello and welcome.

Me thinks you have found an opportunity to have that family.

I just have to send a welcome from a happy camper who lives thousands of miles away and two oceans. I live in Hobart, Tasmania - southernmost state of Australia. Just take it easy - you'll be comfortable with the site and the cool people you'll meet.

Tasmania, Australia and NZ are on my bucket list. I'll give you a sign when I'm on my way... wink!

Thank you all for the kind wishes! I feel very welcome here. I look forward to seeing what friendships may come from joining this site.

Welcome!

Welcome. Had the exact same mindset as you.
It’s entertaining when I get bored and go through my email for some entertainment. Hope you are into cerebral philosophical conversations.

I'll do my best to keep up.

Yeah, you won't find me on other social media sites as well, but this little oasis is different. I'm a community not a dating member, but if you are, I wish you good fortune. Welcome.

Welcome. Sit back relax and enjoy great, intelligent and enlighten discussions. Plenty of very smart, witty and beautiful women here! Unfortunately, I'm not here for dating though but I do appreciate quality people.

It is good to be able to know that we are out there.

We are here in all walks of life. Rural and Urban.

This is a place of comfort.

On edit -

I am even acquainted with a young man FB in Pakistan who was talking about wobbling between Atheism and Agnostic. .

Being too outspoken about such things can get you killed there.

He was studying to be a teacher of American Literature and probably has read more than I have of it. Many modern works. There weren't many I mentioned that he wasn't familiar with.

He graduated and did get a teaching job in, I want to say France, but I'm not positive about that.

I was very relieved when he left Pakistan.

It is difficult enough being an Atheist when the toughest thing is finding a social group you feel you can be yourself in.

We are not in fear for our lives. I really admired his courage.

Good for him, I too am glad to hear he got out safe. While we are fortunate enough to live in a country where our lives may not be threatened by our views, I am 100% positive my family would disown me if they found out about my atheism. I can't understand the mindset that would lead a person to harm/disown someone simply for disagreeing with them.

@dmemm84 While it is right to hate the oppressive religion in these lands it is right to remember there are people and minds struggling to those same lands to.break those chains.

I do see hope though those like my friend.

I love it. Welcome.

I’m also from the Midwest, though not rural. A very “Christian “ place. That’s why I joined this site, too. Just to chat with people who are not going to bless me or pray for me or tell me it’s all part of god’s plan. Hope you enjoy ?
