Who Knows their history?
Russia has hardened their resolve against Ukraine ie no peace talks. For those unsure why, here is a little 25 minute explanation of the battle of Kursk in 1943.
Zelenskyy has stated that one of the aims of the incursion into Russia proper, Kursk, was to strengthen his position for negotiations. If he got off the coke for a second and knew his history, he would have known what the Russian reaction would be when they saw German tanks roll across the border. The man is an idiot. Europe/ NATO countries do know their history and many are no longer supplying Ukraine with weaponry eg Germany and Finland. Zelenskyy is on his last legs and he knows it.
NB If you have been following the Ukraine war, you will find many names familiar. Not the first time Russians have fought in this area, Napolean also went this way and many others. So I hope people have a better understanding of why no NATO in Ukraine was a genuine security concern for Russia. I still cannot understand why neutrality was unacceptable for the 'West'. So many have died and Ukraine is left in ruin.

This might be something for which the Ukrainians have not and will not give up.

I agree neutrality should be good enough.
Unfortunately people profit from war so the definition of neutrality should be spelled out in detail.

Starving over 3 million people will not be forgotten in one or two generations. IMHO

The Russians did spell out in detail neutrality for Ukraine with security guarantees from Russia. This was done in March/ April 2022 in Istanbul Turkey and agreed upon by both sides, initialed meaning it only needed the leaders signature to sign and done deal. Neutrality in military alliances only, nothing stopping Ukraine joining the EU. The idea being that Ukraine could also make a security pact with NATO. Look at a map at NATO Europe and The Russian Federation and a neutral Ukraine makes perfect sense as you don't want opposing forces facing off directly.
The USSR was a horrible regime and no one wants it back. Lenin killed a lot more Russians than Ukrainian's. No-one defends that time, no-one. Everyone is glad it fell. The end of the cold war. 1991.
The new Russian Federation got over it. Unfortunately, the USA never did.
The Russian Federation is not the USSR. There is no cold war anymore because the cold war was a war of ideologies; Communism Vx Capitalism. Communism lost. War over. Warsaw pact dissolved, no further need for NATO.
The war in Ukraine is due to NATO expansion. A defense pact that causes conflict expanding is not defense anymore is my way of seeing it so fuck NATO.

Germany lost the battle of Kursk because the Russians had broken German intelligence codes and were lying in wait for them. Also because of the massive amount of aid given to them by the west especially the US. Hell we are still paying the price for aiding the Russians to much in world war ll. We had a golden opportunity to allow 2 ruthless dictators to slug it out and missed it.

Yeah nah. Who gave Germany a lot of aid in the 30's? Did the Bush family make any money from Nazi Germany?
And lets say that no US aid did cause the downfall of Russia. Then you would have had Nazi's and imperial Japan in control from Europe, all of Russia and China and the Pacific. And perhaps Russia would have won without US funds too? Anyway, didn't happen that way.

Look, people love calling me a Russian troll but I assure you I am not. I just really f'n hate NATO. But what I do know is that Russia/ USSR (at the time, not now) lost over 20 million in what they term the great patriotic war. Their memorial day is a huge holiday over there ie they do remember. Did you watch the video to the end? 1.2 million Russians dead in 'The battle was fought between 5 July to 23 August' so what's that? 50 days? 1.2 million dead in 50 odd days? That is just mind blowing and for sure would be part of the curriculum that all Russian learn in history, like we learn about Gallipoli in Australia.

So imagine being a Russian in 2024 and seeing German tanks roll across the border heading to take Kursk. If you were Russian, would this make you think 'Shit! We better negotiate a peace now'.
Or would it make you think 'Fuck you cunts, you just signed your death wish!'.

@puff

Where is Red army's Hollywood movie?. Or half a dozen other religious or countries who were killed in greater numbers than the Jewish. After 7 decades I get so sick and tired of the jewish ( not counting orthodox jews) screaming wolf with crocodile tears.

@Castlepaloma I'm sure they have them. Living in Thailand, they had a magnificent mini-series about some historic Kings (used to be 3) with full on battle scenes with elephant cavalry etc. In Thai so we don't see it.
A famous rhetorical question is 'If I lived in Germany during the 1930's, what would have I done?' Or during the slave era? People like to think they wouldn't have supported, but indoctrination runs deep.

Zionism is basically a cult that has taken over a nation. So we are dealing with a population deeply indoctrinated which means they need debriefing. Palestinians in a similar situation due to occupation. People are people it's just their minds have been retarded by religion. To undo indoctrination they have to go through a mass debriefing program, similar to what happened in Germany eg we didn't treat all Germans as Nazi's and the same applies to Jewish people ie not all support Zionism. Same Muslims and daesh/ ISIS. Don't like smearing a group with the same brush as that is the definition of racist.
I thought many of the settlers were 'orthodox? And all are sick of Israel constantly playing the victim.

@puff

Biden says the U.S. would have to invent an Israel if it didn't exist.Jul 24, 2023 — President Joe Biden repeated a line he famously said in 1986:

Yes a double wammy, a political and religious cult. This highest form of BS can no longer run the marathon of truth.

@puff NATO is a direct result of Russian ruthlessness in the occupation of Eastern Europe after WW ll. They installed ruthless communist regimes in all of Eastern Europe that their army occupied. Finland and Sweden recently joined NATO because of Putin’s aggression against the Ukraine. Russia would have never beaten the Germans without US and western aid. Yes the Russians lost a lot of people but Stalins non-aggression pact with Hitler was what allowed the Germans to defeat the British and French forces so quickly. In reality Stalin was no better than Hitler as he killed millions of his own people.

@Trajan61 All true. I will repeat myself........again.
The USSR fell in 1991 and is no more. The Russian Federation is not communist. No-one wants the USSR back. Communism is dead with only 3 Nations left in the world and I am very familiar with one of them; China, Viet Nam and Laos PDR.
Do you still think of South Africa as an apartheid state? Because that ceased decades ago as well.
The USA is rapidly catching up to Stalin's death toll. Especially if you accept Covid research, funded by the USA, caused a pandemic in Wuhan. Can add 40,000+++ women and children from Gaza this year alone. Millions in the ME. Present day. How many have Russia killed since 1991? Did they destroy Libya and Iraq?
In reality, Stalin was probably worse than Hitler. You know who he killed most? Russians.

@puff The USSR may be dead but the leader of Russia, Putin is a former KGB thug who attacks his neighbors and threatens world peace by killing thousands. No he’s not as bad as Stalin or Mao but he’s still bad and NATO expansion is a direct response to his aggression.

@Trajan61 Wrong. His aggression is directly in response to NATO aggression. He is not a dictator, he has the Kremlin.
George Bush Snr. Former head of CIA and assigned to WH when Kennedy was assassinated. His son in office 9/11.
A great advantage Putin being former KGB, he knows how the CIA operates.
Putin is Putin, it is what it is. You want a war with him, need to understand him and The Russian Federation, how it works. Perhaps he does so well as people are stuck in the USSR. They don't understand modern Russia at all.
