For the first time in ages, I looked at my visitors lately. You people hovering over me makes me kinda paranoid. It's like people peeping in through the windows.

I have probably hovered over every member of the site, multiple times. Some of it is due to sloppy mouse play, some is due to trying to read other text, some is trying to refresh my memory of who is making the comment or post, some is genuine interest.

A few years back we had a member that got really upset that people were stalking her because of the number of visits she was getting when she had made it very clear she was only here for community. It got to the point that she was sending nasty messages when someone hovered.

I would say that she overreacted! It does not truly annoy me--I was just attempting to be funny!

When you use the Internet, for anything, you have no expectation of privacy E.V. E.R.
( nor protection against criticism, either!)
Go back to 1876 or ignore it, those are the actual choices

I was trying to be funny!

It is the one aspect of Agnostic that really annoys me. Often my mouse strays over people and no doubt they get a notice that I ''hovered" over them. As if I wanted information about them. Just checking, my most frequent visitors shows the first 17 all just hovered. The odds are pretty high that they had no interest in checking me out, they had momentarily moused over me.

Nah, they were checking you out, you rascal. I never considered what "hovering" entails, but if it is just putting the mouse over a picture without clicking on it, I am guilty!

@Gwen_Wanderer That is all it seems to be.
As a pure hippie, obviously I am not a rascal, just one who ignores the system requirements.

@rogerbenham ah, a dissident/rebel!

@Gwen_Wanderer In 1974 I arrived in Vancouver, Canada. I rented close to theWest End beach. Within a couple of weeks I was adopted by an international hippie family who taught me their truths. I realised how honest they were with each other, how gentle and peaceful. I saw the garbage people believed about them and I realised that their way is what I wanted. I also, in those first few years, got involved with the Hare Krsna's and the Sufis, who both influenced my thinking and after 6 years my being.
I did not rebel, I just took no part but chose 40 years in "the bush" living to my own tune.

@rogerbenham there are different types of rebellion. I rebelled against the status quo as a teen and was hippie-ish. My rebellion included not embracing the Baptist religion of my family, but when I was 27 and I had my first son, I capitulated and stayed in a church for over decade (it was not Baptist, but nondenominational). At 43, I left it. Those were acts of peaceful rebellion.

I still practice shades of "gentle" rebellion by not adhering to most standards set by culture, including how old women should act, what they should wear, and how long their hair should be. I am patriotic, but not blindly so--when I follow cultural standards, it is not blindly, but with consideration that those standards are logical. Rebellion is resistance to the status quo, and I think you qualify!

@Gwen_Wanderer I've never been one for the lads or groups. I like friends singly or in small gatherings. As a well enough known musician I have mostly had one partner or now perform alone. As a politician I informed the party that I would only ever vote my thinking. Out in the bush I took no notice of codes. I fully endeavour to not judge and keep those thoughts to myself which enables me to have many happy friends whilst my true friends nearly all live out somewhat remotely. In the Green Party I was known by some as the Hippie Sufi. Before coming to Canada I had friends who called me Blossom as I loved flower covered clothes.As a top engineer, other top engineers would ask me about the drugs they thought their children were taking. My hippie clothing did not bother them at all because they knew how good I was.They even wanted me to become a partner but I liked my independence. I do not feel that I ever really rebelled but rather I chose not to follow the crowds or fads or expectations.

@rogerbenham I understand your points and we will agree to disagree on issues of rebellion!

@Gwen_Wanderer Suffice to say, I don't think that I ever broke the law, other than diving way over the speed limit in my early twenties.
Roger and out.

I was wondering about that because my mouse often drifts over the "Recent Post Visitors" or members list because I'm totally klutzy so do each of those show up as me hovering over someone? Or does it have to be on a post, like I just did to yours a minute ago? If so, I'm sure I inadvertently come across as a super-stalker. lolz!

ps - I like your new (to me) picture.

The picture is very new! I am not sure about the hovering aspects, as well. I might have just "hovered" over you as I put my cursor over your picture here but did not click on it. That must be "hovering."

@Gwen_Wanderer There, I just hovered over your picture!

@Gwen_Wanderer I confess the other reason I hover is that it increases the size of the picture and my eyes often need that, particularly when using my phone.

@rogerbenham I'm simply gorgeous--right? (Evil grin.)

@Lauren I only use a PC--my phone is a flip phone. I also did not know what "hovering" entailed--I now know!

@Gwen_Wanderer Yes.

I don't care if you stalk me! 😛

@Gwen_Wanderer Friends stalk friends to make sure they're okay. 🤗

@Betty indeed, my friend!
