Turkey is what Ukraine should have been, a gateway between East and West. That is how they play geopolitics. If a NATO and Russian war becomes official, NATO will splinter, already are.
The sight of German made tanks rolling into Kursk took negotiations off the table for the Kremlin, for now. They consider Zelenskyy an illegitimate leader due to him cancelling elections and ruling under martial law "until the war ends". I doubt negotiations will occur whilst he maintains power.
