Does anyone have any fun telling people you are atheist stories?

For me it has ended a relationship.
Been told I'm wrong.
Alot of trying to convert.

I'd like to see if there are any fun ones out there. I've yet to see it.

One evening some time ago three very attractive female christians who were friends of an atheist friend of mine came to visit and i guess it was inevitable that we would discuss (debate) the christian faith. Each time I raised seriously questioning propositions they would simply refuse to discuss that point any further by claiming I was "speaking the words of satan". This happened several times in the course of the evening, at one level it was a bit frustrating but yet at another it was rather comical. I could never date people of such a mindset irrespective of their "good looks".

@atheist - the shutdown was what got me - once they invoked satan all conversation on that topic just ceased... ya just gotta laugh ?????

I've only ever got any of that stuff online, from Americans I know over the Internet. I've had people tell me that I'm just angry at God, which is impossible because I've never really believed in him, that I just need to have faith, which is impossible because I can't just turn off my rational mind, and that they just don't understand how I can't believe in God. I then explain to them and they get upset, like my disbelief in God is offensive to them personally. Which, in some cases, it is.

But even with theists in the UK, my atheism is met largely with indifference. The topic barely even comes up in conversation.

When I have said it the usual response is " who'da guessed"
But religion is one of the first things I ask about in any prospective personal relationship. It's that important to me.

No doubt I've lost a few friends and alienated some relatives that are very hostile to my godlessness. Most do not want to talk about it in depth or afford me the opportunity to present my arguments.

The silliest comment I've gotten is "atheism is just another religion". My best response is borrowed but says "Atheism is to religion as abstinence is to copulation".

About, oh, I dunno, 4 years ago I was in a bar (don't judge ?) talking with a couple of my drinking buddies and the subject somehow came up. I came out with my atheism, expecting shock or something I guess ( this is NC after all), and each one of the 3 guys I was talking with sort of sheepishly admitted that yeah, so were they. Surprised the hell out of me, in a pleasant way. It confirmed my decision to never shy away from the topic if it comes up, cuz you never know who might be relieved to find out that they are not alone.
