You seem to be at odds with your post when you say the Prosperity theology is rubbish and then state there may be something to it. There will be a time when the younger son will fail and have to ask his older brother how did he deal with it and ultimately succeed. It also depends on how much others do for the younger son. People like doing things for others up to a point. If he never broaches that point he's fine.

Your post rambles among unrelated topics. As for the "prosperity gospel" it is simply a perversion of Christianity, saying that if you follow Christian dogma, you will be rewarded with success and wealth in this life, as well as in afterlife. Original Christian theology never claimed that. In effect, it is also saying that , no matter HOW a person acquires his or her wealth, the fact that the person has wealth shows that God approves of the person.

It is tripe designed intentionally to say, in effect, that greed is good, and to placate the greedy. It is peddled by demagogic charlatans who see it as a means of acquiring wealth and power for themselves.
